I've been a bit confused when I hear people referring to Easter eggs as a singular Easter Egg. "Did you buy so and so an Easter egg". I've been wondering why someone would only give or dye one egg?? Turns out, they dont dye eggs here nor do they buy the little plastic eggs and stuff them with candy. Here, an Easter egg is a hollow chocolate egg, sometimes with other chocolates inside it, but normally just with other chocolates in the box. Here is my singular Easter egg, but you know what I want? Jelly beans! I've not seen any jelly beans here. (and of course no Peeps!)

Easter is a wonderful time in England because we get 4 whole days off work! We went down to Chichester today with Mirra to a dog friendly bed and breakfast. We had our own little private garden (see above) and went to the beach at Bognor Regis and still have three days off. Thanks, Jesus!

Happy Pancake Day!
So, its officially called Shrove Tuesday, and is also observed in America, but I've never heard of it before moving here. Basically, its always on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday (start of Lent) and is supposed to be a way for people to use up all their eggs, fat (butter) and sugar before Lent since I guess you aren't supposed to eat all that stuff during Lent. Whatever - its also a reason to eat heart shaped pancakes for us. Yay.

Today was one of the days I look forward to the entire year: PRAM RACE DAY! Other wise known as Boxing Day to most, but to me its just the day that the wonderful Pram Race happens in Windlesham. Basically, participants choose a theme such as GI Joe, Legos, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, etc and decorate a pram (stroller), shopping cart, parade float (depending on how fancy they are), dress up like idiots and run around this very quaint village going from pub to pub drinking in each one. Its lovely. Here are a few shots:

For Christmas lunch, we went to a fairly swanky hotel with David's parents instead of cooking at home (my genius idea). I love the tradition of wearing hats on during your Christmas meal no matter how fancy of a place you may be eating. The tradition is that each person has a Christmas cracker on their plate and you open them at the start of the meal and wear the paper hat which is inside. On a side note: David and I went to Fortnum and Mason (aka the Queen's grocery store) and saw crackers being sold for £1000 for 4 of them! I wonder what kind of hats are in those...!

Oh and we went to David's parents to after lunch and played Monopoly (some new version where you buy famous places in London) and I won big time!! Look at my hotels!

83/365: Guy Fawkes Day

Today was Guy Fawkes Day where all the Brits celebrate the day when Guy Fawkes tried to blow up Parliament, with fireworks and bonfires. Guy failed and sadly, we failed too in our celebrations and did nothing at all. :(

Happy August Bank Holiday Monday! I woke up today with that "Ugh what I have I done? Where am I? Who is next to me?" feeling and quickly realized I drank about 20 times too much, I was in a hotel in West London and thankfully it was David next to me. Phew!
We made it home very slowly, managed not to puke in the process and got home to find that there is something wrong with the boiler (hot water heater) and we had no hot water. I had a hungover freezing cold shower and went to bed. Trust me, there was nothing worthy of photographing today.
