This is the UK equivilant of a vanity plate... I never can tell what they are supposed to say since you have to keep close to the format of a regular plate, apparently. You can't just have a plate that says a word, it has to have some numbers it in, so people use numbers that they think look like letters to take the place of them. Eventhough they dont make any sense, people pay thousands of dollars for the rights to certain plates.

David took Mirra and I to Windsor today and Mirra promptly pooped on the Queen's lawn right outside the castle. Woopsie.

68/365: You know you're in England when....

I went to a conference for work today in London and came across this nice photo in between rooms 5 and 6. Of course, I giggled and whipped out my camera. I wonder where one buys these mass produced portraits?

I told many people before I moved to England that I would not be cooking meat for David's dinner, but I am now cooking meat for Mirra's dinner because she is turning up her nose at everything else. Hopefully this wont last too long... *finger crossed*

I introduce you to a Ploughman's Lunch! Today, we took Mirra to Tilford, for her first pub lunch. Eventhough we ate outside, it was still so strange that she was allowed there. No one even looks twice at a dog in a pub! She was pretty unimpressed and is still exhausted from her journey.

We also took a quick trip to Aldershot and I happened to see this sign... I wonder what poor soul has to clean it??

64/365: Mirra's Arrival!!

Me picking up a very shaggy Mirra from the Animal Reception Centre at Heathrow!

After a very long flight, Mirra was in desperate need of a bath!

I am pretty sure that David and I were much happier to have her here than she is to be here at this point :)

I always thought these big things were water towers, until I noticed that they seem to rise and fall (somedays they are shorter than other days) Turns out, they hold gas instead of water. David says, you can tell its expected to get cold in the next few days when the tower is tall like it was today, since the expectation is that people will need to use more gas to heat their homes. Makes sense to me!

David went to the England v. Belarus football game tonight, so I had a night to myself and chose to spend it eating nachos, watching America's Next Top Model and playing Grand Theft Auto. Good times.

Since I am unable to find yellow/orange cheddar cheese here, it seems the only way to make nachos is a little kit like this - tortilla chips, "nacho cheese sauce" and some salsa in a pouch. Surprisingly, it really wasnt bad! My favourite thing that you probably cant see in this pic is that underneath the word Discovery on the box, it says "more adventurous tastes"... ohh nachos - how adventurous!!

A little girl named Lucy passed away due to an allergic reaction to peanuts and her friend sent this cute picture and a 10 pound donation to the Anaphylaxis Campaign. How sweet. RIP Lucy.

57/365: Lions, Tigers, Giraffes, oh my!

We went on a very mini-holiday to Wiltshire today and passed none other than Stonehenge on the way there. It was very strange to see it; not because it was so impressive as most may say, but because its just THERE, so random in the middle of nowhere with people driving by it paying no mind. We didnt bother going up to it since you cant really even get that close, but now I can say I have seen it. Check!

Then we went to Longleat which is a safari park among other things. We only went to the safari park part and I drove (!!) Roundabouts are tough, but roaming lions, tigers, antelopes, etc dont scare me :) Here are a few photos:

56/365: Casualty of the Move

My boxes finally arrived today! They were in sorry shape, so I was surprised to see that everything made it in one piece save for this bookend. The silver thing on the left is the one that survived, but you can see they were apparently filled with some kind of sawdust to make them heavy and there is now only one...

55/365: The greatest invention of all time

A very nice woman at work noticed that I kept turning down tea each of the 10 or so times a day it was offered to me, and she knows that instant coffee is pretty gross, so she introduced me to this wonderful invention!! Its a single cup coffee filter - it just sits on your mug and you pour water in the top and it brews just like in a coffee maker. Awesome!

54/365: Wanna Wii

They changed the advertisements at the bus stop today and lookie here: Wii console and games for only 179 pounds! Sounds like a unrefusable offer, dont you think??

53/365: Blame It On The Rain

Super rainy day today! The crap thing about umbrellas is that they do nothing for your hair really... I walked the 4 minutes to the bus stop today with my umbrella and the moisture in the air still completely ruined my hair. I spent the rest of the day observing people to see if they are using anything else (maybe a jacket with a hood instead) to keep their hair styled, but it appears that the trick is just to pull your hair back once its ruined. Guess that means I need to grow mine a bit more so it can be pulled back. Damn you Mother Nature -what kind of hairstyle did you have anyway!?

I'm still feeling like crap today. I have ruled out swine flu due to my lack of high fever, but have not felt this sick in a long time. David dug up this thing that heats up essential oils that are meant to decongest and dutifully kept it burning all night. No major improvments, but it was quite sweet.

We spent most of the day cleaning (blech) including some heavy duty carpet cleaning. I know, I know - control your excitement! I am hoping for some more interesting posts in the near future...

50/365: Comfort Food?

Believe it or not, this a SINGLE serving of french fries (chips). I honestly can't say I am a huge fan of traditional fish and chips as they are so greasy and heavy, but it was a nice try at some comfort food since I'm still feeling like crap.

Whoops... I skipped a few days there with this terrible cold.
But today, there is news: Mirra is booked on a flight on October 16th!! As a little treat, I picked up some special food for her (mostly just because it has a cocker spaniel on the front).
