We're having the "worst storm in 50 years" in Surrey and for once the Met Office (the weather people) got this one right. Its been snowing non-stop since about 11pm last night and now at 4:42pm, its still coming down very heavily. No work today and I cant imagine that things will be drastically improved tomorrow. Hooray for snow days!!

A bit of confusion in the Camberley parking garage... One sign tells you to "pay and display" (your ticket showing you've paid to park), while the other one tells you to take your ticket with you... could they not have removed the old sign when putting up the new one!?

I always thought these big things were water towers, until I noticed that they seem to rise and fall (somedays they are shorter than other days) Turns out, they hold gas instead of water. David says, you can tell its expected to get cold in the next few days when the tower is tall like it was today, since the expectation is that people will need to use more gas to heat their homes. Makes sense to me!

You know you are in a great country when bus stops are named after pubs near them. Here is the William IV pub in Camberley which is near the bus stop (also named William IV) where I get off to go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. I started volunteering there today to get some of this mysterious "UK Work Experience" which is apparently SO much different than any other work experience. We'll see...

21/365: Something For Everyone

There are many tea and coffee shops in Camberley, but take a look at this one closely...see on the right - its "for the over 50s"! Who knew there was such a thing?? I looked up Age Concern since they seem to run the shop and its actually a charity for elderly people and this is just one of the programs they run. It's perfect considering that the Starbucks in Camberley is filled with annoying teenagers. I wonder if the over 50s would allow me to stop in for a coffee if I am on my best behaviour?

13/365: The High Street

This is Camberley High Street. Every town has what is refered to as a "high street". Sometimes it's a generic term for the main drag and sometimes is the offical name of the street, which is the case in Camberley.
As you can tell in the photo, its a bit of a rainy day, so I purchased this lovely umbrella, only to realize that I am not sure I really know HOW to use an umbrella. Is there a trick so it doesnt catch the wind and blow your arm off or turn inside out??
